The 9th Essex Beer Guide, which covers the whole of the county of Essex and the Essex postal area of Greater London, was published by the Essex Branches of CAMRA in November 1998 and provided a comprehensive and non-selective guide to the (nearly) 1,700 Pubs of Essex, with details of their facilities and Real Ales at that time.
Copies of the 9th edition are usually available (at a discount price) at local Essex Beer Festivals, or you can obtain a copy by sending a cheque for £2 (including Postage & Packing) made payable to the “CAMRA ALL ESSEX ACCOUNT”, together with your Name & Address, to Charles Murray at 4 Brookside Cottages, Runwell Road, Wickford, Essex SS11 7PN
However, nothing stays the same and Essex’s CAMRA members have been working on a new edition.
More than 85% of the Pubs have now been surveyed, so if you want to help – you get to visit many remarkable pubs before the rest - then contact Charles Murray at the above address or by e-mail
